Eric is an absolute Rockstar who provides long term solutions to his customers long after the sale has been made. I wouldn't buy from anyone else.
The Capital District's Full-Destination Ice Cream Stop
Fat Boys Ice Cream and Family Fun Plex opened in June 2023, taking over the former Glenville Sportsplex property on Freemans Bridge Road in Schenectady, NY. The vision was clear from the start: build a full-destination experience — not just a place to grab a cone, but a reason to spend an afternoon. Ice cream, a complete menu of frozen treats, and mini golf all under one roof.
The menu covers serious ground. Soft serve and hard ice cream anchor the lineup, with Flavor Burst color and flavor injection taking the soft serve program to another level. Hand-scooped sundaes, milkshakes, Cool Chiller frozen treats, and sherbet coolers fill out a menu designed to have something for every person who walks through the door.
Running that kind of operation requires real equipment depth — and Fat Boys built exactly that. With six Taylor machines running simultaneously, the Fat Boys operation is one of the most comprehensively equipped Taylor installations in the Capital District. Two C712 twin-twist machines anchor the soft serve program, the CTP80SS Flavor Burst adds color and flavor variety, the Taylor 428 handles shake volume, the Cool Chiller blending system produces chunky mix-in blended treats, and the MUR60 Topping Center keeps toppings service efficient at scale.
Owner Brian Olsen is direct about what makes the Taylor Upstate relationship work: long-term solutions, service that extends well past the sale, and a team he trusts. That kind of partnership matters when five machines need to perform consistently through a full summer season.

Five Taylor Machines Running at Fat Boys
One of the most complete Taylor equipment installations in the Capital District — five machines covering the full spectrum of frozen treat service.
Fat Boys runs two Taylor C712s — giving the operation the volume and flexibility to handle peak summer demand without compromise. Each C712 runs two flavors independently or blended as a classic twist, high capacity, consistent output, built for the kind of traffic a full-destination ice cream stop generates.
Soft serve • Twist cones • SundaesThe Flavor Burst system injects color and flavor directly into soft serve as it dispenses — turning standard soft serve into a fully customizable experience with dozens of flavor options.
Flavor Burst cones • Specialty soft serveThe Taylor 428 handles the milkshake volume at Fat Boys — a high-frequency output machine built for the kind of consistent shake production a busy ice cream destination demands.
Milkshakes • Frozen beveragesThe Taylor Cool Chiller is a countertop blending system that creates a unique dessert by mixing soft serve, milkshakes, or smoothies with mix-ins like cookies, candies, nuts, fruits, or coffee — producing a chunky, thick, and creamy treat unlike standard soft serve. Operated by foot control with a spoon agitator for consistent blending every time.
Cool Chiller blended treats • Mix-in dessertsThe Taylor MUR60 Topping Center keeps backup mix cold, sundae toppings cold, and has space for hot fudge — with a custom shelf for lids, spoons, and napkins. Everything the sundae program needs, organized and within reach during peak hours.
